Financial Basics – Manage Your Money for the Long Run is a free continuing education course being offered at George Brown’s St. James campus. Sponsored by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and the Investor Education Fund, the course runs 10am to 1pm on Saturdays from February 23 to March 8. University of Toronto’s Cinema Studies Students Union stages free movie screenings throughout the school year at Innis Town Hall situated at the downtown St. George Campus. Next up is RoboCop and Starship Troopers on Friday, January 25th. From time to time, sneak previews of new Hollywood films are also featured. Check their site for more info.
The Museum Arts Pass, sponsored by Sun Life Financial, is available at select Toronto Public Library branches. Passes, limited to one per family, per week, on a first-come, first-served basis, can be checked out with a library card, and are valid for family admission to a Toronto area museum.
Toronto is hosting its’ annual winter festival from January 25 – February 7. The festival will include a number of free shows at Nathan Phillips Square, that include Cie Carabosse’s Night of Fire, Theater Gajes‘ Alice in Wonderland and concerts by Tokyo Police Club and the Weakerthans.
Fairview Mall’s “Great Poinsettia Give Away” takes place Monday, January 7th, from 9am to 11am at the Upper Level near Rainbow Cinemas. There is a limit of one plant per person, while supplies last. Voluntary donations to benefit the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness.
