The CBC is holding a free screening of Up the Yangtze at the Royal Cinema, 608 College Street. The screening and discussion afterwards with filmmaker, Yung Chang, takes place Wednesday March 26th at 7pm.
The documentary focuses on the people living along China’s Yangtze River, and the effect the Three Gorges Dam project has on their lives. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall, and was featured more recently at the Sundance Film Festival.
Call 416-205-7500 to reserve your seats. Attendees have a chance to win a pair of passes to the Hot Docs festival in April.
Those unable to attend, can catch Up the Yangtze on CBC Newsworld, March 30th at 10pm.
this film wasn’t premiered at TIFF, but was part of the Canada Top 10 (part of TIFFG)
Kevin, thanks for the correction.
UP THE YANGTZE is still playing at the Cumberland on it’s 8th week. The director is doing Q&A’s all weekend long.
This is a great film and should be enjoyed on the big screen in 35mm rather than a 60 minute shortened version on TV.
