Festival of South Asia

The Festival of South Asia takes place this Saturday August 23rd – Sunday 24th, in Little India – the Gerrard India Bazaar (situated on Gerrard Street East between Coxwell and Greenwood). Take in tastings from local restaurants and enjoy the free entertainment and fashion shows.

EcoSavvy Festival at Mel Lastman Square

This Saturday August 16 at Mel Lastman Square, learn “How to Screen through all the Green” at the EcoSavvy Festival – an informative environmental event showcasing local organic food & produce and sustainable products & services.

This free festival will run from 11am to 9pm and feature presenters and live music throughout the day.

Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremonies Broadcast at SilverCity Richmond Hill

The SilverCity in Richmond Hill (8771 Yonge St. & Highway 7) will be showing in all 12 cinemas, a live HD broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremonies this Friday August 8th, at 8AM (doors open at 7AM).

Admission is free (with suggested donations in support of the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts) with seating on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 3000 guests.

Simcoe Day Celebration at Fort York

Admission to Fort York National Historic Site is free on Monday August 4th, 10am – 5pm, where you can help celebrate Simcoe Day, an annual Toronto civic holiday tradition.

Take in period demonstrations throughout the day including blacksmithing, cooking, and military drills. A parade is set to take place starting at 1pm.
