The Word on the Street is a national celebration of literacy and the written word – Toronto’s festival, featuring book readings, author signings, marketplace, kids activities and more, takes place at Queen’s Park, Sunday September 25, 2011 from 11am-6pm.

The TD Irie Music Festival runs Friday July 29 – Monday August 1, 2011, featuring performances at Queen’s Park and Yonge-Dundas Square, along with film screenings and art displays at City Hall.
The free event celebrates music, “from Reggae to Salsa, Soul to African; dance from the African Diaspora presented in association with dance Immersion, spoken word/literature, visual arts exhibition, movies, delicious tropical food & drinks and more”.

Kids, 6-12 years of age, can participate in an outdoor scavenger hunt this summer at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The hunts take place every Wednesday from 10:30am-11:30am, through until August 31, 2011.
