The Word on the Street is a national celebration of literacy and the written word – Toronto’s festival, featuring book readings, author signings, marketplace, kids activities and more, takes place at Queen’s Park, Sunday September 25, 2011 from 11am-6pm.

TD Irie Music Festival 2011

The TD Irie Music Festival runs Friday July 29 – Monday August 1, 2011, featuring performances at Queen’s Park and Yonge-Dundas Square, along with film screenings and art displays at City Hall.

The free event celebrates music, “from Reggae to Salsa, Soul to African; dance from the African Diaspora presented in association with dance Immersion, spoken word/literature, visual arts exhibition, movies, delicious tropical food & drinks and more”.

Summer Scavenger Hunts at Queen’s Park

Kids, 6-12 years of age, can participate in an outdoor scavenger hunt this summer at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.   The hunts take place every Wednesday from 10:30am-11:30am, through until August 31, 2011.

Afrofest 2011

Afrofest, a celebration of the richness and diversity of African culture, takes place at Queen’s Park, Saturday & Sunday July 9 & 10, 2011.

Featuring world-renowned African musicians and top African groups based in Canada, an African marketplace, food and craft vendors, artistic displays, music workshops, and activities for youth and children.
